Architectural Design

The urban design approach to the built elements of the Greystones Harbour has been to position the main residential development parallel at the Coast with the Marine to the front of the buildings. The housing elements are two and three-storeys similar to existing low scale development to the west, rising to three-storeys of apartments over a ground floor of shops and restaurants on the seafront.
The building line of the buildings on the seaward side lines up with the western side of Trafalgar Terrace in order to preserve a view of Bray head and the North Beach from the Harbour area.

The architectural design of the Greystones Harbour is contemporary and has extensive glazed areas and balconies. The Club accommodation is provided in two separate buildings and is positioned on the easternmost extremity of Marine Terrace. A new park is positioned in place of the existing playing fields to the North of the Harbour and will be landscaped in a manner symphatetic to the marine environment but will feature more shelter belts to make the Park more usable in inclement weather. The key feature of the design is the boardwalk that extends between the retail area and the Marina and eventually joins with the cliff walk around Bray Head. Improved car parking facilities will be provided for the Harbour users and the general public.
